Richard John Suchon, 85, Stevens Point, died Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, at the Veterans Hospital in Madison.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, at the Pisarski Funeral Home in Stevens Point, with Deacon Vern Linzmeier officiating. Burial with full military honors provided by American Legion Post 6 Firing Squad, will be in the Guardian Angel Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until the service.

Mr. Suchon was born July 19, 1931, in Polonia, a son of the
late Joseph and Frances (Stroik) Suchon. He attended Ellis School and local
schools in Stevens Point.

He entered the U.S. Navy Jan. 11, 1952, in Chicago, Ill. He
served during the Korean War where he received the National Defense Medal,
United Nations Medal, Korean Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was
honorably discharged Nov. 29, 1955, at the U.S. Naval Station in San Francisco,
Calif.

He was married to Barbara Stowe Sept. 1, 1956, at St. Joseph
Catholic Church in Stevens Point.

After their marriage the couple settled in the Stevens Point
area.

He had a long career working for the Soo Line Railroad,
retiring in 1980.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara, Stevens Point; one
daughter, Rita (Alan) Klein, Stevens Point; two brothers, Tony (Ruth) Suchon
and Robert (Linda) Suchon, both of Stevens Point; three sisters, Eleanor
Cichosz and Jeanette Boursier, both of Stevens Point, and Loretta Buege, Plover;
two stepgrandchildren; and four great-stepgrandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard and
Joseph Jr.
