Local Bar Raises Boatload of Cash for Honor Flight

A local tavern has raised more than $6,000 to benefit Never Forgotten Honor Flight.
Donna’s Showboat, 2182 Cty. Road HH, held a benefit on Aug. 28 to raise funds for the Honor Flight. The event featured hot sandwiches and cake, with about 30 volunteers in tow.
Honor Flight is a Wausau-based organization flies veterans from WWII, Korean and Vietnam, free of charge, to Washington, D.C. for a day of sightseeing at memorials built in their honor. Each veteran is accompanies by a guardian, who must pay $500 for the flight.
The next flight is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 10 from the Central Wis. Airport in Mosinee.
Employees from Donna’s Showboat presented a check for $6,506.41 to Honor Flight co-founders Mike Thompson and Jim Campbell. According to a news release from the bar, Donna’s Showboat plans to continue raising funds for the cause year-round.
