John A. Worzalla, 90, Stevens Point,
died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016,
at the Portage County Health Care Center.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at St. Stephen
Catholic Church, with theRev. Jerzy Rebacz officiating. Burial with full
military honors will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery.


Visitation will be at the Pisarski Funeral Home in Stevens
Point from 4
to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, and at
the church from 8:30 a.m. Saturday
until the Mass. American Legion Post 543 of Plover will hold a ritual at 6:45 p.m. Friday, and a rosary will be prayed
at 7 p.m. Friday.

Mr. Worzalla was born Feb. 16, 1926, in Plover, a son of the late Michael and
Victoria (Widomski) Worzalla.


He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a staff
sergeant with the 94th Division. He earned the Victory Medal, European African
Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon Medal, 2 overseas service bars, Army of
Occupation Medal for Germany
and Czech Republic,
Good Conduct Medal and Bronze Star Medal.


After an honorable discharge, he returned home and attended college
in Fond du Lac.


He was married to Irene C. Lake July 3, 1948, at St. Peter
Church in Stevens Point. She died
in 1995.


The couple settled in Stevens Point.


He worked at Consolidated Papers Inc. until his retirement
in 1988.


He achieved a “hole in one” feat in golfing. He was active
in the community with Boys Scouts, receiving the Silver Beaver award; the
Plover American Legion as one of the founding members of the Plover American
Legion baseball team; and with St. Stephen Church.


Survivors include two sons, Mark (Barb) Worzalla, Hatley,
and David (Barb) Worzalla, Plover; one sister, Ann Eichendorf; five
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.


He was also preceded in death by14 brothers and sisters; one
daughter-in-law, Sharon Worzalla; and one granddaughter.
