Virginia “Sis” Kubisiak, 89

Virginia “Sis” Kubisiak, 89 of Plover, passed away in the emergency room at Ministry Medical. She had been at the Atrium Care Center for 6 days.

Sis, had dementia since 2010 and was kept home under the care of her husband Pat, her devoted son Mark, daughter Vicki and son-in-law Dick.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Virginia “Sis” will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday September 26, 2016 at Holy Spirit Parish (St. Stanislaus). Rev. Thomas Lindner will officiate. Burial will be in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Friends and relatives will gather to share memories from 10:00 AM to the time of services at the church on Monday. Shuda Funeral Services are assisting the family.

Sis was born on December 29, 1926 in Stevens Point, The daughter of William and Alice (Stroik) Leo.

She was a 1945 graduate of P.J. Jacobs High School. Sis married E.J. “Pat” Kubusiak on November 22, 1947 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Pat preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 2015. The couple settled in Stevens Point and raised their family.

Sis’ mother and father died at a young age and Sis & her family took the responsibility of raising her younger brother (James) who was age 12.

Sis worked for Hardware Mutual after graduation until her marriage in 1947.

Sis worked at Portesi Pizza manually wrapping pizzas but found, her being too much if perfectionist and was not to productive, she stayed only a few days.

Sis was a stay at home mom and enjoyed decorating for every holiday and occasion, and being at home when her kids got home from school. She was a honorary member of the Rosary Society at St. Stanislaus for 68 years.

Sis was an assistant Girl Scout Leader. She was a charter member of the Wisconsin River Country Club for 15 years, serving as hostess chairman for the ladies golf league. Sis enjoyed golf with her friends. Sis and her husband helped out and participated in mixed couples golfing events at the Wisconsin River Country Club. She was also a member of the Stevens Point Country Club and enjoyed her Wednesday Ladies League golfing with friends.

Sis and her husband played in numerous Friday night couples events, mixed couples events and Evans Caddy Scholarship Tournaments.

Sis enjoyed watching sports and loved Brett Favre. She loved to dance and was great at the Jitter Bug and old fashioned Rock and Roll. Sis and Pat were regulars at Paul’s Bar and Mickey’s, they always sat on the two stools at the end of the bar next to the Jukebox. She also enjoyed casino visits with her family and 1-2 hour daily car rides with her son.

Sis enjoyed spending time and golfing with her family and friends. She golfed until she was 81. As snowbirds, Sis and Pat spent 1 month in Arizona for 25 years while her family visited for 2 weeks. They also vacationed in Myrtle Beach and Cancun until age 81.

Sis is survived by her daughter Vicki (Dick) Schultz and her son Mark; her sister, Dolly Miskowski, brother; Gary Leo, sister-in-law; Leone Clune; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Sis is preceded in death by her husband Pat, her grandson, Brian Keith Schultz; brother, Dr. James A. Leo; and two brothers-in-law, Donald Miskowski and Chester Kubisiak.

Sis’s family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Paul Munck for his guidance, support and excellent health care for Sis and family. The nurses and doctors in the emergency room, second floor doctors, nurses and CNA’s in her short stay at the hospital. She was treated with dignity, respect compassion and given loving care.
