Laura B. Flyte

Laura Beryl Flyte, 90, Plainfield, a former owner of the Royal Supermarket in Plainfield, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016, at Silver Lake Manor in Wautoma, where she had resided since February.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Sept. 25, in the Stahl Funeral Home in Plainfield. Burial was in the North Deerfield Cemetery in the town of Deerfield in Waushara County.
Visitation was at the funeral home Sunday.
A memorial has been established in her name.

Mrs. Flyte was born Nov. 5, 1925, in the town of Deerfield in Waushara County, the seventh daughter of the late Alvin and Mildred (Newhall) Kitchen. She attended Four Corners Country School and graduated from Hancock High School in 1943.
The following year, she worked in Chicago, Ill., and Milwaukee.
She was married to Stanley Flyte July 8, 1944, in Oklahoma City, Okla., where he was stationed in the U.S. Navy. He preceded her in death.
They returned to Plainfield in February 1945 and purchased a farm, part of which was once owned by his grandfather.
They purchased Royal Supermarket in Plainfield March 1, 1965, and had the store until Jan. 1, 1975. In the fall of 1981, she opened a general clothing store known as “The Shoppe.”
Survivors include two sons, Larry (Karin) Flyte, Plainfield, and Lee (Cheryl) Flyte, Coloma; one daughter, Lois Marshall, Plainfield; eight grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by seven sisters, Alice Heinz, Doris Rous, Olive Graf, Freda Carlton, Elvah Swainston, Patricia Rojahn and infant Ilene Ruth.
