Local Realtor launches breast cancer awareness campaign

Voters are used to seeing yard signs in the month of October. Political candidates typically encourage their supporters to show their pride in election years. Most yard signs are different shades of red, white and blue.

Mark Kitowski, founder of local real estate brokerage KPR Brokers and a paramedic with the Stevens Point Fire Department, said he wants to change that.

“As someone whose family has been impacted by breast cancer, I wanted to do something creative to raise money to fight breast cancer,” he said. “I noticed during Packers games last year that in the month of October guys would wear pink apparel to help raise awareness. I didn’t see any reason why we couldn’t do the same thing with our local real estate signs.”

Kitowski said he knows the importance of civic engagement.

“I think it’s always a good thing when we can use our creativity as a community to raise awareness for a good cause,” he said. “Hopefully this is something that everybody can agree on, and it will bring us together,” he said.

Be on the lookout for bright pink KPR Real Estate yard signs across the central Wisconsin area during the month of October. Kitowski’s real estate team, KPR Brokers, has pledged to donate $1 for every “like” on its promotional Facebook page. Also, an additional pledge of 10 percent of the proceeds for KPR’s accepted offers during the month of October.

Kitowski also pledged to donate 10 percent of the proceeds from any listing agreement signed in October, including homes to be listed in spring 2017.

“We’re not just trying to raise awareness. Awareness is obviously a very good thing, and you’ll hopefully be seeing pink signs everywhere. But ultimately we also want to raise money to help fight breast cancer,” he said.

KPR Brokers also teamed with Saint Michael’s Foundation. To help the cause, visit www.KPRBrokers.com and click on the “Saint Michael’s Foundation” link to make a tax deductible donation. One hundred percent of all donations stay within the local community.
