Max J. Rutta, 81, town of Hull (Stevens Point), a co-founder of the Town of Hull Fire Department, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016, at Ministry St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point while under the care of Ministry Hospice.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at the Pisarski Funeral Home in Stevens Point. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. Monday until the services.

Mr. Rutta was born Feb. 13, 1935, in Stevens Point, a son of
the late Harry and Helen (Laszewski) Rutta. He attended local grade schools and
graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1953.

He was married to Marjorie J. Faucett June 11, 1954, at St.
Stephen Catholic Church.

They lived in North Hollywood, Calif., for two years before they
returned to the Stevens Point area.

He worked for Consolidated Papers for 36 years, retiring in
1997.

He was involved in the town of Hull, which was the home of
his ancestors in the area known as the River Bottom. He co-founded the Town of
Hull Fire Department, retiring after 25 years of service as a volunteer firefighter
and fire chief. He also served for 35 years as the Emergency Fire Warden with
the Department of Natural Resources.

He also worked for the Portage County Court System as a bailiff
for 12 years.

He was a member of the Stevens Point Moose Lodge 1170.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie, Stevens Point; two
children, Randall Rutta, Washington, D.C., and Michelle (Stefan) Wahe, Cottage
Grove; one brother, Robert (Bonnie) Rutta, Plover; and three grandsons.

He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Jeffery.
