“A Reason To Shop”, socialize during event to support local woman and children

For the City Times

The Women’s Fund of Portage County is hosting its annual fundraiser, A.R.T.S. Night (A Reason To Shop/Share/Socialize), on Tuesday, October 25, from 5 PM to 8 PM at the Holiday Inn & Convention Center in Stevens Point.

The night features a variety of art for sale, silent action, featured artist, light buffet, live music and a cash bar.

The featured artist of the night is Brody Rice of Brody Designs in Plover.

Ann Rushevics, Women’s Fund Board President, said the group was “honored” to be featuring his jewelry work.

“His exhibit will include a display of the unique and beautiful jewelry he has designed and developed,” Rushevics said. “Brody is a long-time supporter of the Women’s Fund as he has provided valuable raffles and door prizes for previous A.R.T.S Nights and Spring Luncheons.”

There will be 31 unique artists and three Cottage Gallery vendors participating in this year’s A.R.T.S. Night. The artists’ work includes many different mediums such as wood, silverware, pottery, blown glass, paintings, weavings and jewelry.

The Cottage Gallery has offerings of fresh and frozen homemade pies, chocolates, truffles and confections, natural soaps, lotions, lip balms and body butters.

A full list of participants is attached and can also be found on the Women’s Fund website, www.womensfundpc.org.

The silent auction includes donated items from businesses and individuals in the local area. The list of auction items includes: wine baskets, a private plane ride to Mackinac Island, clothing, designer decorations, Central Wisconsin Symphony tickets, spa treatments, golf for four and many more valuable items.

A.R.T.S Night tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. Tickets are available at Beyond Ordinary, Girls in Pearls, Mitchell Piano Works, Regnier Consulting Group, Inc., Robin’s Nest Gifts, Sugar Doll Chocolates & Cards and the Stevens Point Area YMCA or at the Women’s Fund website.

A.R.T.S. Night generates charitable funds for grants given each year by the Women’s Fund to community groups providing services to women and children throughout Portage County. The event is being sponsored by Mark Toyota, BMO Harris Bank, CliftonLarsonAllen, Delta Dental of Wisconsin and Regnier Consulting Group.

Since its establishment in 1997, the Women’s Fund has provided over $349,000 to 62 agencies. In 2016, $67,560 was allocated to 17 projects that improve the situation of women and children in Portage County.

Some of the projects supported include Energy Payment Assistance for Single Moms, Healthy Smiles of Portage County, Boys & Girls Club Programs and Meals on Wheels for Senior Women.
