County to Hold Discussion on Roadways, Bridges

City Times Staff
County officials are holding a town hall meeting to discuss roads and transportation issues.
In what’s been dubbed a “Turnout for Transportation” meeting by the Wisconsin Counties Association, meetings in 71 across the state have been scheduled simultaneously at 7 PM on Thurs., Sept. 29.
It will be the first-ever statewide town hall event, according to the WCA.
The mass meeting is being held as an answer to “the state’s transportation shortfall”, according to the news release, which also said attendees will include county, city, village and town officials and is open to the public.
Topics for discussion include the current condition of roads, culverts, and bridges; impacts on safety and economy; and sustainable funding.
The meeting will be held at 7 PM in the Community Room of Mid-State Technical College, 1001 Centerpoint Dr. on Thurs., Sept. 29.
A quorum of the Portage Co. Board may be in attendance.
