David W. Sieck, 56, Stevens Point, died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, of pneumonia.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stevens Point. Interment will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, in Greenwood Cemetery in Seward, Neb.

Visitation will be at Boston Funeral Home in Stevens Point from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, and at the church from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service.

Memorials may be made to Special Olympics or St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stevens Point.

Mr. Sieck was born Dec. 25, 1959, in Beatrice, Neb., the fourth of five children of the late Leo J. and Ruth G. Sieck. He lived with his parents as he attended school and learned to read, write and do math.

After his father’s death, he and his mother extensively toured the United States, then Europe and New Zealand with his siblings.

He volunteered at his church, the Senior Center and at the YMCA, and helped care for his mother when she developed Alzheimer’s disease. After his mother’s death, he lived in his own apartment.

He became a Special Olympian in Beatrice, Neb., and then participated in the YMCA’s Adaptive Recreation and Special Olympics program in Stevens Point. He captured numerous ribbons and medals in basketball, bowling, and track and field.

Survivors include two sisters, Connie (Grant) Whitaker and Carol (Todd) Rave; and one brother, Cliff Sieck.

He was also preceded in death by one sister, Donna Ilten.
