Norman L. Wanta

Norman L. Wanta, 93, Stevens Point, a former city attorney, died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at the Shuda Funeral Chapel – Stevens Point. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday.

may be made to Holy Spirit Parish and St. Stephen Catholic Church.

Mr. Wanta
was born in Stevens Point, a son of the late Leo L. and Otilia “Tillie”
(Stanke) Wanta.
He
graduated from the University of Wisconsin (UW)-Madison and UW-Madison Law
School.
He was
married to Elizabeth “Betty” Pohlman June 29, 1945.
He held
professional positions as a self-employed attorney and businessman, including
20 years as Stevens Point city attorney, director of First Financial Savings
and Loan, director of First Financial Bank and director of Associated Bank.
A portion
of the Green Circle Trail property in Stevens Point was donated by him and his
wife Betty.
Survivors
include his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Wanta; four children, Thomas (Sheila
Sullivan) Wanta, Gene (Linda Grubba) Wanta, Mary (John)
Gestner and Anne Wanta; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
He was
also preceded in death by one brother, George J. Wanta.
