UPDATE: Ministry, Blue Cross Agree on Extension

City Times Staff
A contract extension has been reached with Ministry Health Care that will keep the health system in Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s insurance networks until the middle of 2017.
Blue Cross had announced in Aug. that it had been unable to reach an agreement with Ministry, triggering notification of the insurance company’s customers that the hospital network would be out of network by the end of September.
“Though not a final agreement, this extension avoids disrupting existing doctor-patient relationships while both sides continue to negotiate in good faith,” a news release from Blue Cross reads in part.
Company representative Scott Larrivee said the contract terminated was initiated by Ministry in March.
