Matthew Kurz, 38, son of a Stevens Point couple, died
Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016, at University of Michigan Hospital from complications
of septic shock.


There will be no funeral service. However, a celebration
honoring his life will be held near Wisconsin Rapids at a later date.


Donations will support the Bedside Music fund. Checks may be
made payable to “University of Michigan” and sent to Medical Development, 1000
Oakbrook Dr., Suite 100, Ann Arbor, MI 48104. Calls may also be made to 734-764-6777

Mr. Kurz was born April 21, 1978, in Wisconsin Rapids, a son
of Richard and Petti Kurz. He was a 1996 graduate of Lincoln High School in
Wisconsin Rapids.


After high school he earned a degree in engineering technology
and supply chain management from the University of Wisconsin-Stout.


He was employed by 3M Manufacturing. He began his career at
3M’s New Ulm, Minn., plant. He later transferred to its Menomonie, Wis., plant
and was currently working in the Abrasive Systems Division in Detroit, Mich.


Survivors include his parents, Richard and Barbara Kurz,
Nekoosa, and Petti and John Reichert, Stevens Point; one sister, Emily (Craig)
Schmid, Wisconsin Rapids; one niece, Ryann Kurz-Schmid; one nephew, William
Schmid; his grandparents, Norman and Carol Reichert, Wisconsin Rapids; his
fiancé, Andrea Walley, Brownstown, Mich.; and her three daughters, Quinn,
Karina and Meryl, all of Brownstown, Mich.
