LETTER: Don’t Reelect Nancy VanderMeer
To the Editor-
Living in the 70th Assembly District, we have a state representative who has voted 97.5 percent of the time with Scott Walker and the Republican Legislature.
Here are some of the positions she has taken: she voted to allow owners of high capacity wells to repair or replace existing wells without oversight; to exempt herself from political corruption investigations; and to preserve the $250 million cut to UW.
She supports vouchers to private schools allowing for local school districts to be in a position of calling for referendums to keep from consolidating and closing schools. She voted against expanding assistance for needy veterans that need mental health and substance abuse services. She voted against $22.9 million in funding for broadband expansion.
In contrast, Mark Holbrook is a strong supporter of education, both K-12 as well as the UW. He will fight to stop expansion of vouchers. As a six-year veteran including Vietnam, he supports making sure our veterans are treated with good health care and supportive services they require.
He wants to lift restrictions placed on local government so they can get back the local control that the state has taken away in recent years. He supports protection of our environment and wants groundwater supply and quality maintained for all, including individual home owners.
I choose to support someone who will vote 100 percent of the time for the people of Central and Western Wisconsin. I choose to support and vote for Mark Holbrook for Assembly in the 70th Assembly District.
