Local police and firefighters were treated to dinner on Thursday, courtesy of two local residents.
Jim Migas (right in photo), of American Family Insurance, along with his friend Al Klein (left in photo), set up a dinner buffet outside the courthouse for local civil servants on Oct. 6. The two prepared hot dogs and hamburgers for police and firefighters, both on and off duty, and the meal also included various side dishes and cookies.
“This is just a way to say ‘thank you’ for all they do,” said Klein, who added some of the food was donated for the cookout by Guu’s on Main.
Migas said he decided to host the cookout following his experience with the local Citizens Academy, which he participated in last year.
“I thought was a great experience, just to see what these guys do,” Migas said. “And I think they’re getting a bad rap right now nationwide. This is just a way of giving a little back to them.”
