It’s all about the Cause.

It was a sea of pink shirts that filled the SPASH Fieldhouse on Thursday night for the sixth annual Diggin’ for the Cause game. The goal was to raise $10,000 for local breast cancer patients.

This annual volleyball event grows each year, thanks to generosity of all the Sponsors and Donors. There were raffles and gift baskets, fresh flowers for cancer survivors and the premier showing of the new video promoting the Breast Care Center at Ministry St. Michael’s Hospital, presented by Dr. Christopher W. Swiecki.

Hundreds of fans filled the gym to watch volleyball and support the Hope is Building campaign, which will strengthen the Angel Fund to support the increasing demand for breast care among the women in our community who could not otherwise afford it.

A portion of the campaign funds will support efforts of the Angel Fund in our community.

While the gym was filled with all the excitement of the festivities, the fans were eager to cheer on the varsity girls. SPASH girls played top ranked DC Everest, who is leading in conference play.

Although the Panthers lost all three games to the Evergreens, (12-25, 17-25, 17-25) coach Liz Thomas said she was “very proud” of their effort.
