City to Close Hoover Rd., Patch St. Next Week

City Times Staff
City crews will close access to the intersection of Hoover Rd. and Patch St./Industrial Park Rd. beginning Monday, Oct. 10.
Workers will be installing new sanitary sewer lines underneath the roadway. Construction is expected to last five days.
Access to Hoover Road will not be available during the construction, but access will remain open to all
businesses on Patch Street/Industrial Park Road. The Stevens Point Industrial Park will only be accessible from Hoover Rd. south of Coye Drive.
City workers have for weeks been working to prepare Hoover Rd. for a new overpass planned at the railroad crossing, with Hoover Rd. has already been shut down to traffic north of the Patch St./Industrial Park Dr. intersection. The idea for the overpass was first considered by former Mayor Gary Wescott, and put into action by his predecessor, former Mayor Andrew Halverson.
Construction of the overpass is expected to begin next spring.
