Fresh off wins over Wausau East and Wisconsin Rapids at the second leg of the Wisconsin Valley Conference tournament over the weekend, the SPASH Panther volleyball team closed out the home portion of its 2016 schedule Tuesday night playing host to the Marshfield Tigers.
The Panthers lost the match 0-3 dropping set one 20-25, set two 12-25 and the third set 18-25.
The match marked the final appearance for seniors Tori Elmhorst-Koltz, Brittney Flugaur, Madeleine Burch, Sydney Salewske and Nicole Brezinski.
“The seniors for the 2016 season are a very cohesive group of young ladies,” said coach Liz Thomas. “The coaching staff has been privileged to have seen them grow both as individuals and a group throughout their volleyball careers. This group has been an example of how dedication and communication improves a team as a whole.”
SPASH will conclude its regular season schedule on the road traveling to Wausau West Thursday, Oct. 13 for a 7 PM contest. The Panthers open WIAA regional play October 20at a time and site yet to be determined.
“It is sad to think that this is the last season I get to spend with a team as great as I have,” said senior Brittney Flugaur. “This season has had its ups and downs but I am hoping that we can end on a good note for this year. We are only a week away from playoffs and all of us seniors are excited to put on one last run for state.”
