The brand new women’s fall softball league is holding a breast cancer fundraiser Thurs., Oct. 13, and the public is invited to attend.
Erin Laffe, founder of the Portage Co. Women’s Softball League, said the league plans to honor local veterans, law enforcement and firefighters during the night’s opening national anthem. The Park Ridge Fire Dept. has confirmed it will be present on Thursday for the event.
The league is comprised of six teams, all sponsored by local taverns, and plays each Thursday at Iverson Park.
Laffe said the park’s concession stands will be open Thursday, with burgers and hot dogs available for sale. The event will also feature a 50/50 and basket raffle containing items donated by local businesses.
Events t-shirts will also be available in limited quantities for $15 each.
Scheduled games include Post Road Pub vs Graffiti’s at 6:30 PM; Team Biadasz vs Rough Rookies at 7:30 PM; and Rookie’s Royals vs Graffiti’s at 8:30 PM.
