Amherst routs Iola-Scandinavia on Homecoming for CWC-8 Title

With the Central Wisconsin Confernce-8 (CWC-8) Title on the
line, the top-ranked and defending WIAA Division 5 State Champion Amherst High School
football team throttled Division 6 seventh-ranked Iola-Scandinavia (6-2, 4-1) in
front of a packed Homecoming crowd Friday, Oct. 7.
The Falcons (7-1, 5-0) jumped out to a 28-0 lead in the
first half and scored two more touchdowns in the opening minutes of the second
half to go up 42-0, and went on to a 42-14 victory to clinch a share of the
CWC-8 Title heading into the regular season finale at Wittenberg-Birnamwood (2-6,
0-5) at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14.
“We’ve been working hard all year for this,” said senior
quarterback/cornerback Brandon Piotrowski. “We wanted it outright by ourselves,
and next week we’ve got that chance.”
