Historical Society completes Farm Museum exterior structure, seeks funds for interior work

The Portage County Historical Society has completed the exterior of a new Farm Museum building in the society’s Heritage Park in Plover and now will embark on a fundraising campaign to complete the interior.
The museum was recently constructed on the rear two-thirds of the Pierce Building by Heartland Customs Homes of Plover after the society raised more than $100,000 for the project.
But the fundraising effort came up more than $50,000 short to complete the interior portion of the project, said Tim Siebert, president of the society, so a fundraising effort will be launched to finance the remaining construction.
The plan, he said, is to use the front part of the Pierce Building to display equipment in the depiction of a historic print shop. The middle section would depict a milk house, while that back section would be a display of agricultural equipment and items in an area that would resemble a barn.
