LWV offer resources to help voters prepare for Election Day
Letter to the Editor:
Soon voters in Portage County will go to the polls to cast votes in the General Election. Election Day is every registered voter’s opportunity to weigh in on the issues that matter most to you by voting.
The League of Women Voters (LWV) is a non-partisan organization with a long tradition of providing voters with factual information about elections and candidates. For help looking beyond campaign rhetoric and TV advertising blitzes, head to www.VOTE411.org. This voter education resource was created to provide the information you need to cast your ballot, including who’s on your ballot, information about voting early or absentee and what types of identification you will need.
You are also invited to attend the League of Women Voters of the Stevens Point Area upcoming candidate forum for the Portage County Treasurer position at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, in the Pinery Room of the Portage County Public Library. The forum will be videotaped and can be viewed on the Community Access Channel, on YouTube and by live-streaming at stevenspoint.com the week after the forum.
LWV sponsored candidate questions and answers will also be published in several local newspapers for the contested races of the State Senate and Assembly and Portage County Treasurer positions.
Voting is the time when all citizens have an equal say in standing up for the issues and priorities that matter most to us.
Vote Nov. 8. Our future depends upon it.
