For the first time in school history, the Pacelli High School
girls tennis team will head to the WIAA Division 2 Team State Tournament.

Junior Alliey Krusa, the No. 1 doubles team of seniors Anna
Koehl and Julia Grygleski and the No. 2 doubles team of seniors Katherine
Mueller and Kaitlin Rogers each qualified for the WIAA Division 2 Individual
State Tournament at the Marshfield Columbus Sectional Wednesday, Oct. 5, where
the Cardinals finished with a total of 32 points to edge Antigo (30) and
Lakeland (28) for the Sectional Title and earn a trip to the Team State
Tournament.

Krusa and the two doubles teams will compete in the WIAA
Division 2 Individual State Tournament at Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison
Thursday through
Saturday, Oct. 13-15, while the Cardinals will take on Madison Edgewood Sacred
Heart in the WIAA Division 2 State Semifinals at the Team State Tournament at Nielsen
Tennis Stadium at
9 a.m. Saturday,
Oct. 22.

“It’s a great accomplishment,” said Pacelli girls tennis
head coach Joyce Krusa of making it to Team
State.
“The last two years we’ve been runner-up, so we’ve been close.

“Two years ago we lost by three points, and last year it was
just one point,” she said. “I was hoping this season would be it, and we got
it.”
