LETTER: Clinton Promotes the Devil’s Influence

To the Editor-

Those of us that are Christian believe God made all things good and has given us free will. When bad or evil happens it is of the influence of the Devil.

Paul Harvey was a radio commentator back in the 1960’s. On April 3rd 1965 he titled his comment, “If I were the Devil”. In his commentary Harvey mentioned all the evil things that were starting to happen at that time regarding religion, the movies, divorce, lack of parenting, language, pop music, etc. Harvey ended his commentary by saying, “If I were the devil I would do just what the devil was doing”.

Since the 1960’s evil has escalated in this country with the Supreme Court’s decision on abortion, the striking down of the sodomy laws, embryonic stem cell research, gay marriage etc. On November 8th, we have an opportunity to start turning things around.

We know that Hillary Clinton has promised to promote those issues that Christians view as evil and influenced by the Devil. It is quite obvious either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump will be our next president. Donald Trump, although not the greatest choice, has promised to appoint justices to the Supreme Court that can start to turn the evil in this country around so we become a more Christian society again.

A Catholic is a Christian individual who not only is baptized as such but one who believes and practices the teachings of the Catholic Church. One of those teachings is that life begins at conception and that abortion is always an intrinsic evil.

Therefore any Catholic that doesn’t believe life begins at conception or votes for candidates that promise to keep abortion legal, is bordering on heresy. I would hope Catholics in Portage County & across the state would not fall into this category. Representative Nancy Pelosi, Governor Tim Kaine and Vice President Joe Biden claim to be Catholic and should reconsider their position on these issues, they are making Paul Harvey’s prediction come true.
