SPASH’s Luetschwager wins back-to-back State Titles

Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH) senior Emily Luetschwager
turned in a dominating performance, as she won her second consecutive WIAA
Division 1 Girls Tennis Individual State Title in Madison Saturday, Oct. 15.
After winning the first tennis State
Title in SPASH history last year, Luetschwager won her first three matches in
straight sets at the WIAA Division 1 Individual State Tournament at Nielsen
Tennis Stadium in Madison
Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 13-15, before she pulled out a three-set
victory in the semifinals to advance to the State Championship Match.
There, the top-seeded Luetschwager rolled to a 6-1, 6-0
victory over second-seeded freshman Isabelle Lee of Bay Port (34-3) to finish
the season 35-0, extend her win streak to 70 matches and claim her second State
Title in a row.
“It’s definitely really cool,” said Luetschwager. “That was
one of the best matches I probably ever played, so ending my high school career
like that has to be the perfect ending.”
