YMCA Celebrates Farm to School Month w/ Apples

For the City Times
Students at the YMCA celebrated the National Farm to School Month with the third annual Great Lakes Great Apple Crunch.
The YMCA gym was filled with youngsters on Oct. 15, excited for all things apple.
The children in attendance joined the one million participants registered for the Crunch throughout several states including Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana and Ohio.
The event featured apple-themed activities, fresh cider-pressing, and an apple crumble cooking demo by Chef Christian Czerwonka from Father Fats. Mayor Mike Wiza operated the “crunch-o-meter” to judge how loudly the kids, all in unison, could crunch those apples.
