9th Annual Tribute Dinner to Celebrate Local Farmers

City Times Staff
The public is invited to attend Central Rivers Farmshed’s 9th Annual Farmer Tribute Dinner on Saturday, Nov. 12.
The event brings community members together to honor local farmers and celebrate the harvest season. Farms listed in the Central Wisconsin Farm Fresh Atlas are treated to a meal at the end of each growing season, in recognition of their work and dedication to providing fresh food to the community at large.
Community members can purchase tickets to join the celebration and help sponsor the farmers’ meals.
Farmshed is partnering with UWSP’s “Students for Sustainability” to plan and host the event, which will take place at the Farmshed Greenhouse, 1220 Briggs Court. Doors open at 5 PM.
The evening meal will feature ingredients from many of the attending farms, including pastured meat dishes as well as fall vegetables in hors d’oeuvres provided by Amy Scheide of Great Expectations Catering.
Locally sourced beer, homemade apple cider, appetizers and desserts will also be provided. Gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options will be available.
Live music will be provided by local bands Chaz’nGerry and Red Tide. A silent auction will feature experiential workshops, dinners and more.
All of the producers honored during this meal are part of the Central Wisconsin Farm Fresh Atlas, a free publication listing farmers who sell food directly to consumers in Central Wisconsin.
Tickets are available online at farmshed.org. The event is limited to 200 tickets.
