He was born March 13, 1921, in Stevens Point, the son of Mary (Massoth) and Charles Tepp. He married Marie Tylka, who survives him, on May 6, 1944. Their marriage lasted over 72 years.

Cletus graduated from St. Joseph’s Elementary School in June of 1935. He then attended and graduated from Stevens Point High School. He worked as a paper boy for the Stevens Point Journal during school and joined them full-time in May of 1941. He worked as a Linotype operator until 1973 when he was promoted to circulation manager, responsible for over 114 carriers. He retired from the Journal in February of 1985.

Cletus was also very active as a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1170 for over 57 years. Other organizations where he served as a volunteer were the Share Food program and the Portage County Retired and Senior Citizens Volunteer Program. He was very active for numerous years with the Boy Scouts of America: Troops 294 and 297 (St. Joseph’s and St. Stephen’s).

During retirement, he enjoyed time with his family, playing cards (pinochle), gardening, watching sports and his service projects with the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid sports fans and loved the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers.
