Amherst, SPASH football teams at home for Level 2 Playoffs

The top-ranked and top-seeded Amherst High School football
team (9-1, 6-0) will host 10th-ranked and fourth-seeded Spencer/Marshfield Columbus
Catholic (8-2, 6-2) in a rematch of the 2015 WIAA Division 5 State Championship
Game, while fifth-ranked and second-seeded Stevens Point Area Senior High
School (SPASH) (9-1, 7-1) will be at home to take on third-seeded Hudson (8-2,
5-2) in a Division 1 showdown at Community Stadium at Goerke Field, as both
will play in WIAA Level 2 Playoffs games at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28.
Amherst
beat eighth-ranked Oconto (4-6) in Level 1 last week, and will be back home
Friday to play Spencer/Columbus, which won 28-0 over fifth-seeded Bonduel (7-3,
4-2) last week and was ranked 10th in Division 4 heading into the final week of
the regular season.
“They’re a very, very good two-loss team,” said Amherst football head
coach Mark Lusic. “They lost to two very, very quality teams, with Regis being
undefeated and then Stanley-Boyd being the No. 1 seed in their Regional, so
they’re a very good team.”
