Local businesses donate $18,000 for new scoreboards at P.J. Jacobs

P.J. Jacobs Junior High and athletic department will now be able to keep a reliable score during athletic events this year. This past summer, the P.J. Jacobs athletic teams were the beneficiaries of $18,000 in donations made to the school by three local companies. Several of the school’s athletic event sites were in need of new scoreboards including K.B. Willett Football field and the P.J. Jacobs Gymnasium.
K.B. Willett field is home to P.J. Jacobs Junior High School seventh- and eighth-grade football and has not had a permanent scoreboard for home games played on the field. They have been using portable clocks that were small and difficult to see. Thanks to a donation by Bushman Electric Crane and Sign, and the Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH) football team, they now have a 4’ x 10’ Daktronics Led scoreboard.
Team Schierl Companies and Len Dudas Motors donated new 8’ x 10’ Daktronic wireless scoreboards for the P.J. Jacobs Gymnasium. The new scoreboards are multi-use, multi-event boards that can service all athletic events hosted by the school.
“The athletic department, student body, staff and administration are very thankful for the generosity and support that Bushman Electric Crane and Sign, Team Schierl Company, Len Dudas Motors and the SPASH Football team have consistently shown to our local schools and programs,” said David Hauser, athletic director.
The scoreboard projects were initiated last spring by the athletic department and coaching staff. The scoreboards reflect P.J. Jacobs school colors and recently updated logo.
