Stevens Point will hold tax rate steady for third consecutive year
City officials presented the city’s proposed 2017 operational budget at a special Stevens Point Finance Committee meeting Monday, Oct. 24, and submitted yet another stable tax rate for council review.
The city proposed a tax levy total of $15,066,552 with an assessed tax rate of $9.84 per $1,000 of property value. This means a property with an assessed value of $100,000 would pay $984 in taxes to the city in 2017.
The 2017 tax rate remains unchanged from 2016’s as well as 2015’s. In 2014, the tax rate was $9.82 per $1,000 and 2013 was $9.84 again.
“Since 2012, it’s stayed very, very stable – 9.85, 9.84 – and honestly, it’s something to be proud of because that’s five straight years of no tax increases,” said Cory Ladick, comptroller/treasurer.
