Wayne William Degner, 79, Wausau, father of a Plover man,
died Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016, at his home in Wausau.


Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at
Our Saviors Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wausau, with the Rev. Robert Edwards
officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Wausau.


Visitation will be at the Helke Funeral Home in Wausau from
4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, and at the church from 10 a.m. Friday until the
services.


Memorials can be directed to Our Saviors Evangelical
Lutheran Church or the American Lung Association.

Mr. Degner was born Jan. 3, 1937, in Wausau, a son of the
late William and Delores (Reese) Degner. He attended Wausau High School.


He worked in the Carpenters Union his entire life, retiring
from Olson’s Floor Covering in Rib Mountain. He made his home in Seattle, Wash.,
for a time before returning to Wisconsin, making his home in Wausau.


Following a previous marriage, he was married to Diane Reetz
Sept. 1, 1990.


Survivors include one daughter, Josie (Jon) King,
Montgomery, Ill.; two sons, Daniel (Radica Behnke) Degner, Plover, and Doug
(Michelle) Degner, Weston; one stepdaughter Sheila (Mark) Fugate, Wausau; two
stepsons, Sheldon (Nicole) Scheu, Shakopee, Minn., and Scott (Cindy) Scheu,
Waterford; three sisters, Pat (Herb) Narloch, Rothschild, and Beverly Hoft and
Susie (Ron) Wolf, both of Wausau; and 13 grandchildren.


He was also preceded in death by his wife, Diane; a twin
brother, Weldon; and two sisters, Darlene and Janet.
