June V. Lemke, 99, Medford, mother of the late Sherin Bowen of the Wisconsin/Nicaragua Partners of the Americas in Stevens Point, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016, at Aspirus Care and Rehab in Medford where she had resided for the past five years.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Medford, with Pastor Brian Mundt officiating. Interment of her cremains will be at Medford Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. Saturday until the services.

Memorial contributions may be given to either St. Paul
Lutheran Church in Medford, the Taylor County Historical Society or the
Wisconsin/Nicaragua Partners of the Americas, 1209 Fremont St., Stevens Point,
WI 54481.

Hemer Funeral Service in Medford assisted with arrangements.

Mrs. Lemke was born June 3, 1917, in Medford, a daughter of the
late Emma Bertha Claviter and Peter Thunn Peterson. She attended Medford
elementary schools and was a 1934 graduate of Medford High School and a 1935
graduate of Taylor County Normal School in Medford.

She was married to Arthur Schneider Oct. 6, 1936, at
Belvidere, Ill. He died Jan. 18, 1942.

She was married to Herman Lemke Aug. 21, 1943, in Hartland.
He died Dec. 12, 1977.

After her education, she taught at the Mathey School in the town
of Medford for a short period. She clerked at the Medford Co-op and worked as a
housewife/mother for most of her life. They owned and operated a mink ranch in
the town of Medford.

She quilted and traveled with her daughter Sherin Bowen, to
Nicaragua, where she taught sewing and has a learning center named after her.
She was a leader of the Thrifty Go-Getters 4-H Club. She was a member of St.
Paul Lutheran Church in Medford, a volunteer at the Taylor County Historical
Society, a past G.U.G. Germania member and charter member of the Memorial
Hospital Auxiliary in Medford.

Survivors include two sons, David (Shirley) Lemke, Medford,
and Russell (Marlene) Lemke, Mosinee; one son-in-law, Robert Bowen, Stevens
Point; one 
stepdaughter-in-law, Florence
Lemke, Medford; one foster child, Rita Warner, Mosinee; numerous grandchildren;
numerous great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sherin Bowen
in 2009; two stepchildren, Frank Lemke and Betty (Joe) Prohaska; three brothers,
Myles, Lee and Claude Peterson; four sisters, Hazel Bloom, Joyce Buss, Meryl
Nielsen and Carol Pennington; and two stepgrandchildren.
