LETTER: Presley Will Ensure No ‘Hanky Panky’ in Treasurer’s Seat
To the Editor-
Congratulations to Supervisor Jacowski for proving Jeff Presley’s points.
The first issue is seeking the endorsement of County Board Supervisors. If my memory is correct, Ms. Stokes (prior Treasurer) was going to have to face a vote of the County Board for potential removal.
If that is the case, then why is it acceptable to seek endorsements from the very body that has the responsibility of removing the treasurer if they are not doing their job? I guess that is one way to ensure that you will never be removed for poor performance.
Jeff Presley wants clear lines so there is no partisan hanky-panky going on. I know that Jeff Presley did not ask anyone for any endorsements. Another thing that surprises me is why Supervisor Jacowski is not critical of Tom Mallison for running for treasurer while holding the office of a County Supervisor. If Mallison is elected, he will not be able to hold his position as County Supervisor.
So much for taking an oath of office and representing your constituents. If the money is better, Tom Mallison will leave you hanging.
While we can see Mr. Mallison is a good politician, it does not make him a good fit for the County Treasurer. I went out on Vote Smart and looked up Tom Mallison’s professional career. It states he worked at Martin Machine, Joerns Healthcare, Midwest Airlines and Shopko.
I am perplexed. Where is his professional experience other than manufacturing jobs or a minimal stay with Shopko as a supervisor? I know Jeff Presley has the experience gained from being an actual manager for Walgreens for a decade and a claims adjuster for over 15 years.
He has the day-to-day knowledge necessary to do the job as treasurer. Add his six years on the County Board, five years on the Stevens Point School Board, Sentry Credit Union Board of Directors along with numerous committees, my choice is Jeff Presley.
The third point made by Supervisor Jacowski is not only rude but incorrect. Regardless of whether it is for his job, public office or his family, Jeff Presley burns his candle from both ends by putting a 110 percent in every day.
The job of treasurer is about following state statutes, county ordinances and policy and procedures. It is the responsibility of the treasurer to follows those rules.
For every sign put out in someone’s yard, donation accepted by Tom Mallison, endorsement’s sought by Tom Mallison or guarantees given by Tom Mallison that he will take care of it, a line is crossed with favors owed, that is why I am voting to “hire” Jeff Presley as the next County Treasurer.
He has the professional experience and skills to ensure we do things the right way and not the political way. Only true change comes from someone who is willing to walk the walk instead of talking the talk. That person is Jeff Presley.
Let’s hire Jeff Presley for County Treasurer.
