Raymond “Ray” Gollon, 93, Stevens Point, a longtime owner of Ray’s Live Bait in the town of Hull, died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, at his home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Stevens Point, with the Rev. Arul Joseph V. officiating. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery.

Visitation will be in the St. Faustina room of the church from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the Mass. There will be a Moose ritual at 10 a.m. and a parish rosary at 10:15 a.m. in the St. Faustina Room.

Pisarski Funeral Homes of Stevens Point & Plover assisted
with arrangements. Condolences may be offered online at
www.pisarskifuneralhome.com.

Mr. Gollon was born Feb. 27, 1923, the first child of John
and Corona (Stephanic) Gollon. He attended schools in Escanaba, Mich., and
Stevens Point. He grew up on the backwaters of the Wisconsin River before the dam
was built to create the current Wisconsin River Flowage, which forced the
family to evacuate from its homestead.

He was married to Charlotte Check Aug. 4, 1945, at St. Peter
Catholic Church. She died April 14, 2004, after more than 58 years of marriage.

He worked multiple jobs, including military defense projects
in Washington, ore docks in Michigan and miscellaneous jobs in Wisconsin, such
as a milk route, the logging industry guiding logs down the river, the
Studebaker auto plant in Kenosha, construction on the DuBay Dam and the paper
mill before going into the live bait industry.

His harvesting wild bait led him to establish Ray’s Live
Bait, which included a wholesale bait business and a retail bait shop. He
continued to minnow until his late 80s.

He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and the Loyal Order
of the Moose.

Survivors include two daughters, Charlene (Bob) Cyran and
Renee Vollert, both of Stevens Point; two sisters, Mary Lou (Victor) Maslakow
and Adeline (Henry) Kenowski; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one son-in-law, Gary
Vollert; and six siblings, Cecelia, Dolores, Patricia, Richard, John and
Clifford.
