Reel affects in World War I make show of patriotism

There are so many angles to Portage County’s contributions to World War I it is difficult to narrow them into a snapshot, but organizers of the WWI project hope to offer a new spotlight on the county’s involvement in a speaker series that takes a look at movies.
The Great War Speakers Series continues with “Doing Their Bit at the Movies: How Stevens Point’s New Gem and Lyric Theaters Enlisted in WWI.” The program will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at the Lincoln Center, 1519 Water St., Stevens Point.
