NEW: Levin Resigns from School Board

By Brandi Makuski
Officials from the Stevens Point School District have announced Sam Levin has resigned from the school board.
Levin’s resignation is effective Nov. 30. In his resignation letter, dated Nov. 9, he cited a need to relocate to southern Wisconsin to be closer to his family.
The school board will meet on Nov. 14 to address filling the vacancy. Under board policy, the board will appoint a new member to replace Levin through next April, at which time the seat is open for the spring election under a one-year term.
Applications for the interim appointment are available at Bliss Educational Services Center, 1900 Polk St., or on the district’s website, www.PointSchools.net.
Levin’s term was set to expire in 2018. He was first elected to the seat in 2013, and previously served on the Portage Co. Board of Supervisors and Whiting Village Board.
