Photo of the Day: Taking Their Best Shots

Casey Simonis (front) and Kaitlyn Lee (behind) line up their shots on the archery lanes at Black Hawk Archery in Polonia on Nov. 10.
The two sophomores are part of the SPASH Archery Club, which meets each Thursday during the school year, alternating between local indoor ranges in the area, to include Bucks and Bulls Archery in southern Stevens Point.
The club, which has about 10 participants from the school, is open to all boys and girls who attend SPASH. Participants need their own equipment and typically pay a $3 to $5 fee per hour of lane time. The club is supervised by three staff members from SPASH, who also are archery enthusiasts.
Lee is also a competitive archer. When asked how she felt about being the only girl at Thursday’s meeting, she scoffed.
“These boys don’t bother me,” she said. “You should see it at Bucks and Bulls; it’s mostly girls there. But it’s fun shooting against boys; sometimes more fun than shooting against girls because you can tease them.”
