Ruth S. Voll
Ruth S. Voll, 94, Stevens Point, died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016,
while visiting her daughter in North Carolina and while under the care of
A private family service and interment will be held.

Mrs. Voll was born May 18, 1922, in Southeast, N.Y., a
daughter of the late Donald and Lilian Shaw. She grew up in the Southeast,
attended local grade schools and graduated from high school. Ruth attended Mount
Vernon School of Nursing and graduated as a registered nurse in 1941.
She enlisted in the U.S. Navy immediately after graduation
and was honorably discharged in 1944.
She was married to Dr. Jack Voll March 27, 1944.
They settled in Reedsburg, Wis., where she worked as a nurse
until devoting the majority of her life to raising a family.
After retirement, she and her husband settled in the
Pharr/McAllen, Texas, area. He died in 1988, and she settled in Stevens Point
In her earlier years, she was active with the Girl Scouts of
America. She served in administrative duties of the Girl Scouts and was a
member of the Black Hawk Council, serving as secretary/treasurer.
Following her marriage, she obtained a pilot’s license.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian church in
Reedsburg, First Presbyterian Church in Mission, Texas, and Frame Memorial
Presbyterian Church in Stevens Point.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Voll, Sue (John)
Swansby and Sally Voll; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, William Voll.
