The Stevens Point Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) has earned a state nod for the 2016 Orange Barrel Art Tour.
The CVB was awarded the 2016 Wisconsin Tourism Trailblazer award on Nov. 4 for “outstanding marketing and partnership efforts”, according to a news release from the Wisconsin Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus.
The project was a collaboration between the CVB and CREATE Portage County as a creative way to promote the region’s arts community, also putting a unique spin on road construction season. The Orange Barrel Art Tour was the result of several local residents and businesses creating sculptures from orange road construction barrels.
The project generated statewide media coverage, increased traffic on the CVB’s website and social media platforms and helped to increase awareness of local attractions, like the Stevens Point Sculpture Park, during the summer months.
