Andrew M. Jacowski

Andrew M. “Andy” Jacowski, 89 Almond, died Wednesday, Nov. 16,
2016, at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
A Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at
St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in the town of Buena Vista, with the Rev.
Ted Lewandowski officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in
the town of Lanark.
Visitation will be at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in
Amherst from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, with a general rosary at 7 p.m., and at
the church from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until the Mass.

Mr. Jacowski was born Sept. 3, 1927, in the town of Lanark
in Portage County, a son of the late Andrew and Regina (Wysocki) Jacowski. He
attended Pickerel Lake grade school, Wausaukee High School and graduated from
Almond High School.
He went to Milwaukee seeking work and worked for
Allis-Chalmers, Nash-Kelvinator and Standard Cab Co.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was married to Audrey H. Mack at St. Stanislaus Catholic
Church in Stevens Point. She died Jan. 16, 2014.
He worked the family farm until 1962 when he became a rural letter
carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 34 years. He was also owner/broker of
Big Hills Realty. He remained active in his sons’ farming operation.
He was a member of the St. Maximilian Kolbe Breakfast Club, the
Almond Rod and Gun Club, American Legion Post 339, Portage County Citizens
Groundwater Advisory Committee and the Rural Letter Carriers Association.
In his youth he played for many local teams, the Navy
baseball team and the White Sox organization and coached the Lanark baseball
team along with local youth baseball teams.
Survivors include seven children, Lonny (Linda) Jacowski,
Plover, Marla (Ed) Cowden, Westport, Conn., Laureen (Dennis) Wied, Milwaukee, Barry
(Kathy) Jacowski, Almond, Todd (Jeanne) Jacowski, Stevens Point, Andrew J.
Jacowski, Waupaca, and Matthew (Kim) Jacowski, Plover; 10 grandchildren; and
three great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Steve and
Jim; one infant daughter, Rachelle; and two grandchildren.
