County Parks to Close for Gun Hunting Season

All Portage County parks will close to the public for gun deer season beginning on Nov. 19.
The closure extends to all ski trails, snowmobile trails, the Ice Age and Tomorrow River trails, the Standing Rocks dog exercise area and the Moses Creek segment of the Green Circle Trail.
Only the public hunting areas at Standing Rocks Park, Wolf Lake Park, Rocky Run Preserve, Dewey Recreation Area, Becker Lake Recreation Area, Wisconsin River Recreation Area, Mill Creek Preserve and the Steinhaugen property remain open during the gun deer season — and only for licensed deer hunters.
The areas will re-open on Monday, Nov. 28.
Also, the Dewey Shooting Range closes for the season on Friday, Nov. 18 at 4 PM.
