‘Unforeseen circumstances’ force School Board member resignation
After fewer than three years on the Stevens Point Area Public School District Board, Sam Levin is resigning.
Citing “unforeseen circumstances,” he said he must resign effective Nov. 30 to move to southern Wisconsin to be closer to family.
“I want to apologize to the community that voted for me, that I will be unable to fulfill my term on the board,” he said. “I do want to thank you for voting for me for such an important position, and I hope my successor will take this position as serious as I did.”
School Board members accepted his resignation during their regular meeting Monday, Nov. 14, and will begin the process of appointing someone to fill his seat until the April 2017 election, at which time someone will be elected to fulfill the remaining one year on his term. The process and application materials are available at Bliss Educational Services Center, 1900 Polk St., Stevens Point, and on the district’s website, www.pointschools.net.
