One Killed in Buena Vista Crash on Tuesday

The Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office is reporting one man has died as a result of a two-vehicle crash in Buena Vista on Tuesday afternoon.
The man, identified only as a 59-year-old from Waushara Co., was travelling south in a pickup truck on County Highway J at about 2:30 PM when he was struck by another motorist. The other driver, a 31-year-old female driving an SUV from Davenport, Iowa, failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the pickup truck, on its passenger side, in the intersection of Highway J and Highway N.
The truck entered the southeast ditch, turning over once and coming to a final rest on the passenger side of the vehicle.
The man, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the SUV was transported to Ministry St. Michael’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. There were no other occupants in either vehicle.
The intersection was closed for about four hours while crews conducted their investigation and cleared the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Portage County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigation Team.
Almond Rescue and Fire Department, Bancroft Fire Department, Plover TIM Team, Portage County Ambulance, Portage County Coroner’s Office and Portage County Highway Department also responded.
