SPASH boys hockey team looks to contend this season

With a talented group of returnees and newcomers, the
Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH) boys hockey team will look to
compete with the top teams in the state this season.
The Panthers bring back 16 players from last year’s varsity
roster, when the team finished 19-6 after a loss to Antigo in the Sectional
Semifinals.
Following a 2-0 start to this season, ninth-ranked SPASH
hosted 10th-ranked Antigo at K.B. Willett Arena Tuesday, Nov. 29, and trailed
2-0 entering the third period, when the Panthers scored four unanswered goals
to pull out a 4-2 victory.
“We started out Thanksgiving weekend and played two tough
teams, Verona and Madison Edgewood, and came out with two wins, and we’re just
trying to build from that,” said second-year SPASH boys hockey head coach
Brandon Busse. “We’ve got a lot to work on, a long way to go, but I’m happy
with the first three games overall.”
