Tillie Shirek, 94, a former Junction City resident, died
Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016, at the Portage County Health Care Center in Stevens
Point. She was 12 days from her 95th birthday.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at
11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Milladore, with
the Rev. John Ofori-Domah officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. Saturday until
the Mass.

Mrs. Shirek was born Mathilda Martha Vakoc Dec. 16, 1921, a
daughter of the late Frank and Mary Klemish Vakoc of Milladore. She attended
the local Stepping Stone Elementary School before attending St. John Catholic
School and McKinley High in Marshfield.

She was married to Frank J. Shirek of Junction City Oct. 28,
1941. He died Oct. 29, 1975.

Together they farmed the Shirek Homestead.

Both were 4-H leaders and active members of the parish.

She moved into the Portage County Health Care Center in
2004.

Survivors include five children, Sharon (Bob) Hollar, Janice
(Len) Rozek, Don (Barb) Shirek, Gary (Jeanette) Shirek and Dale (Karen Baneck)
Shirek; one daughter-in-law, Phyllis Shirek; one son-in-law, Dennis Danczyk;
one sister-in-law; Leona Shirek; 31 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and one
great-great-grandson.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Frank “Butch;”
one daughter, Ruth Danczyk; five brothers, Ladd, Victor, Frank, Norman and
Leonard Vakoc; one sister, Mary Steckler; and one great-grandson.
