UWSP men’s basketball team set to face ranked opponents on road
The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) men’s
basketball team will look to pull a pair of upsets when it hits the road to take
on 12th-ranked Hope College (5-1) and 21st-ranked St. Thomas (4-2) in the next
Following 10 days off since an 86-65 win over UW-Superior
(1-7) Nov. 29, the Pointers will face Hope in Holland, Mich., at 6 p.m. Central Saturday, Dec. 10, and
then will be back on the road to play defending NCAA Division III National
Champion St. Thomas in St. Paul,
Minn., at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14.
“Our plan going into this stretch was to get some rest and
to get away and to kind of refresh our minds and our bodies,” said UWSP men’s
basketball head coach Bob Semling. “We’ve had quality practices, where we
didn’t really have to prepare for an opponent last week, so we finished out the
week just concentrating and focusing on us and trying to get better.
“It was just overall trying to brush up on everything on
both ends, offense and defense, and just trying to take a step as a team,” he
said. “Become a better practice team, and then hopefully that will carry over
into this stretch we’ve got coming up now with Hope and then St. Thomas.”
