Roger L. Pitt, 74, New London, a former Amherst area
resident and son of an Amherst Junction woman, died unexpectedly Saturday, Dec.
10, 2016, in Amherst Junction.


Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at
Peace Lutheran Church in Amherst, with the Rev. Dwight Anderson officiating.
Interment will be at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery in Amherst.


Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. Friday until
the service.


Memorial contributions may be made to the Tomorrow River
Scholarship Foundation and the Waupaca County Natural Resource Foundation.


The Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst assisted with
arrangements. Condolences may be offered online at www.hollyfuneralhome.com.


Mr. Pitt was born Sept. 30, 1942, Stevens Point, a son of
Connie (Kostuch) Pitt and the late Pat Pitt. He graduated from Amherst High
School in 1961. He wrote many sports articles for the Amherst Advocate
newspaper while in high school.


He attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point for
two years, majoring in journalism.


He began his career in journalism at the Appleton Post
Crescent in 1963 and continued to work there until the end of 2005. He retired
from the Post Crescent and worked as a city court reporter in New London until
his final retirement in 2013.


He was an active board member of the Tomorrow River
Scholarship Foundation and the Waupaca County Natural Resource Foundation.


Survivors include his mother, Connie Pitt, Amherst Junction;
one sister, Karen (Robert) Ostrowski, Rosholt; one brother, John Pitt, Amherst;
one nephew; six nieces; and 13 great-nieces and great-nephews.


He was also preceded in death by one sister, Mary; and one
sister-in-law, Judi Pitt.
