Okay boys and girls, it’s time once again for the Stevens Point Quiz.
The object is to test your knowledge of the fine city of Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Some of you will answer all the questions correctly; we tip our hats to you. Others will probably get a few wrong. C- The longest a punt can go at Goerke Field or any other football field is 98 yards from the one-yard line to the other one. 3. C- Reader Mary Ann says the Cozy Kitchen next to Top Hat was established in 1942. 4. A- Plover Street is in Stevens Point. 5. B- Trig’s liquor department is called Cellar 70. 6. A- Nelson Hall at UWSP is not a residence hall. 7. A- Hilltop billed itself as “The Cheers of Stevens Point”. 8. D- Dixie Sarchet was Miss Wisconsin of 1954. Her father Earl Sarchet owned Miller’s Clothing Store on the site of the current library. Dixie married Harvey Kuenn, a former American League batting champion and former Milwaukee Brewer manager. 9. E- Jordan Pond is in the town of Hull. The Plover River goes through Iverson. 10. C- Renee’s Red Rooster. BONUS QUESTION ANSWER: D- Chuck Nagle played for Pizza Hut in the Rec League at Ben Franklin. While playing for Shamrock Pizza, I “held” Nagle to 37 points. In the first half. He dropped about 64 on us.
