City’s Winter Sports Areas to Open Friday

Some of the city’s winter sports recreation areas are scheduled to open for the 2016-17 season on Friday, Dec. 16.
Iverson Park’s sledding hills, snowboard hill and one toboggan run, along with the Goerke Park skating rink, will open on Friday. According to ploverweather.com, the over 10 inches of snow has fallen across the Stevens Point Metro Area in December alone; as many as eight additional inches are expected Friday night.
An opening date for the Iverson skating rink has not yet been scheduled.
The winter sports areas at Iverson are open Fridays from 6 PM to 9 PM; Saturdays from noon until 8 PM; and Sundays from noon until 5 PM.
